New York Cooking Schools

There are several New York Cooking Schools. One of the better ones is The Institute of Culinary Education (ICE), which caters to professionals and amateurs alike.

Richard Smilow, president of ICE says, "We offer the widest range of three, four and five-day cooking courses anywhere. We have nine teaching kitchens, open seven days a week, with technique classes in fine cooking, pastry, bread-baking, cake-decorating, and every ethnic cuisine from Italian and Japanese to Thai and Vietnamese."

The city boasts some of the finest and diverse resturants in the world so you would expect New York cooking schools to reflect this. And a variety of people are attracted to the classes for equally wide-ranging reasons. You will get to meet people from all walks of life and this is what seperates these types of classes from online cooking schools.

Online cooking schools are great for learning at home if you can't find the time to attend a class. They are flexible and you can fit them into your lifestyle easily but they lack the hands on interaction of real life New York cooking schools.

ICE is the US's largest hands-on cooking, pastry, baking and wine education program with a mind boggling 1,700 classes offered seven days and nights a week.

Each year, over 23,000 students will learn a varied mix of popular regional and international cuisines taught by skilled and prominent chefs in small classes. ICE also features New York's leading wine school where basic to advanced palates are catered for.

And the prices are most reasonable, especially for the quality of the teaching. Classes run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the school also offers a wide range of one-day workshops ranging in price from $85 to $100.

The price of these cooking classes are as follows:
Three-day classes, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., $275-$415.
Five-day classes, $495.

Out of all the New York cooking schools, this does take some beating when it comes to value for money.

Tuition includes snacks, a huge lunch, and wine each day. What more do you want?
